Founded in 1911, Appleby College’s mission is to educate and enable young men and women to become leaders of character, major contributors to, and valued representatives of their local, national, and international communities.


Appleby inspires its 750 students from grades 7 to 12 to pursue their individual passions through an internationally recognized and innovative academic, athletic, and co-curricular program that has been founded on the school’s six Pillars of Strength; Academically Vital, Technologically Empowered, Universally Diverse, Community Spirited, Actively Engaged and Globally Responsible.


Appleby’s model of educational excellence enables and encourages its students to learn and discover independently and  collaboratively, both inside and outside of the classroom.

 

Appleby College Diploma with Distinction in global leadership

Successful students complete the following in addition to the  Appleby College Diploma requirements:

✔ An International Service Project
✔ Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
✔ Outdoor education component
✔ Co-op credit associated with their Senior Social Science
✔ At least 2 French credits, a second language credit and any second language to the Senior level
✔ Intercultural residential component
✔ Development of a global action plan which is presented to the community
✔ Series of Global Scholars assignments which connect global issues to their course material

Appleby FACts & Attributes

  • 153 (Senior Two or Grade 12 or Senior Class) students in 2013-2014 Class.
  • More than 90 dedicated and inspirational faculty; nine with doctorates and an additional 40 with other graduate degrees.
  • More than 30 sports and 20 Varsity Teams with emphasis on Hockey, Swimming, Soccer, Field Hockey, Rugby, and Golf.    
  • 35 students    achieved    the    Duke    of    Edinburgh    Gold    award    in    2012-2013. All Appleby students must attain their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award before graduating.
  • Appleby students must complete a minimum of 100 hours of community service upon graduation.
  • Since 1997 Appleby has been at the forefront of international service with students participating in international service projects to over a dozen countries. Over 100 students take part each year.
  • The Appleby Arts program encompasses a wide variety of classes and co-curriculars including dance, drama, music, theatre, and visual arts.
  • The Appleby College Diploma with Distinction in Global Leadership recognizes the efforts and achievements of students who are committed to global citizenship and education.
  • Each year, Appleby students are required to participate in three terms of co-curriculars including athletics, arts and service.
